Northampton’s producer Spookzville is undoubtedly one of the best producers in the UK that you probably haven’t heard about…until now.
His recent production work with Big Narstie includes the insanely catchy theme song to the The Big Narstie Show on Channel 4. This work has brought him some much deserved attention and his forthcoming album which features among others Big Narstie and Devlin looks to continue his rise.
“With my album I really want to showcase the different genres I produce and write, some of which people may not be aware I make, and to show off the music produced with some of the best talent out there. I really can’t wait for it to come out so the release can’t come quickly enough.
I also want to keep producing and writing bangers for all the other amazing talent out there for their projects. I’ve worked with artists Big Narstie, Izzie Gibbs, Eyez, Scrufizzer, Ironik, Splinta, Sox and many more, plus projects for SBTV and Channel 4 which is a side of things I want to keep doing too”
His ethos on production is simple:
“I was originally inspired by Dr Dre for both his artist and producer sides. I’m inspired by music, if I hear something that really catches my ear I will straight away feel the need to go and start working on a new beat or song.
I also get inspired by learning, I always search on YouTube for new tutorials so I can take the knowledge away and use it in my music, it might be a production technique or a creative way to use an effect, anything that’s creative.
I have to say that I'm more of a fan of individual songs than a fan of a specific artist as I’m about excellence in music as opposed to one genre. Good music is good music and I can take all these influences into my productions.”
Spookzville has been making music for a few years now and hails from a musical family.
“My Dad has always been in bands and records original music still to this day – he likes to think he can give me a run for my money! – and my Mum used to sing and perform back in the day too. My brothers are involved in music with one a rapper and singer and the other a guitarist.
